How 7 Little Words works
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Goal | Solve seven clues per puzzle by combining letter tiles into each answer. |
| One tile bank | Every puzzle has a bank of 2- and 3-letter tiles; each tile is used exactly once across all seven answers. |
| Letter counts | Each clue tells you how many letters its answer has — use that to narrow the tile combinations. |
| Any order | Solve the clues in any order; finishing the short ones first frees tiles for the longer words. |
| Five a day | Blue Ox publishes five free puzzles daily, resetting at midnight Eastern Time. |
Tips for solving 7 Little Words
- Start with the shortest letter counts — fewer tiles means far fewer combinations to test.
- Scan the tile bank for common prefixes and suffixes (ING, TION, RE, UN, ED) and match them to a clue's letter count before guessing the whole word.
- Because every tile is used exactly once, each answer you lock in removes tiles from play — solve the words you're sure of first and the rest get easier.
- When two clues could take similar tiles, solve the more specific clue first so you don't strand a tile the other word needs.
- Stuck on one word? Open its clue page for a letter-by-letter reveal without spoiling the other six.
